Tactical Interviewing & Detecting Deception

This 3-Day training course is designed for patrol officers and detectives to provide them with a variety of tactics and techniques to set a foundation of understanding as well as practical skill enhancement relating to communication, conducting effective interviews & interrogations, detecting deception, improving witness memory and statement analysis techniques. Students will improve their ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people and personalities, build and maintain rapport and conduct effective interviews and interrogations. Students will learn questioning strategies to enhance victim and witness memory and will be introduced to key principles of statement analysis which will help them distinguish between truthfulness and deception in language. We will also shed light on some myths about lie detection and discuss what works and what doesn't when trying to detect deception and lies in other people. Students will learn how to utilize principles of persuasion & influence during interviews and interrogations in an effective and ethical manner as well as other interview and interrogation tactics and strategies, all designed to reach the truth within investigative inquiries.
